Drug bust in north-west Sydney

Police seized drugs and firearms in Blacktown, Seven Hills and Wentworthville early on Tuesday.

At one property in Blacktown, officers found a clandestine drugs laboratory, a submachine gun, a sniper rifle, a military-style assault rifle, 25 kilograms of MDP2P and more than 10,000 ecstasy pills.

They also searched a Seven Hills home and three other Blacktown properties and seized cash, drugs, documents and electronic items.

Police also found 500 kilograms of methylamine, used to manufacture methamphetamine and ecstasy.

Two men arrested in Blacktown have been charged with manufacturing illegal drugs.

NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione said the raids were the result of outstanding detective work.

‘‘Today’s results are a testament to the tireless efforts of detectives, who have been working around the clock for many months,” Commissioner Scipione said.

‘‘Their hard work has not only resulted in us locating and seizing large quantities of illicit drugs, we have also found and seized three high-powered military grade firearms.’’He said despite the result, the fight against the drug syndicates went on and there was still much work to be done.

‘‘The role the community can play in helping us shut down these labs cannot be overstated,’’ the Commissioner said.

‘‘If any properties in your neighbourhood raise suspicions, then contact police immediately.’’
