Drug manufacturer and Kings Cross identity Adam Sonny Freeman has been taken into custody four years after he was involved in making a shoddy $3 million batch of the drug ecstasy.
The son of the late underworld figure George Freeman had his bail revoked on Thursday ahead of his sentencing at the Downing Centre District Court in October.
He faces a maximum sentence of life in jail after pleading guilty in September last year to the manufacture of a commercial quantity - 19.2 kilograms - of ecstasy.
Wearing a pin-stripped suit and pale green tie, Freeman, 31, appeared to anticipate that he would be taken into custody, walking into the court room holding a pair of black Asics running shoes.
He slipped them on moments before Judge Hoy ordered he be taken into custody.
The court was supposed to hear sentencing submissions for Freeman's matter but his barrister, Greg James, QC, was at a funeral.
Freeman hugged and kissed family in the courtroom.
Judge Hoy said "Thank you" and Freeman replied, "That's all right."
He smiled at supporters, and nodded at them as he waited for Corrective Services officers to take him away.
Freeman fled Australia but was extradited in August 2011 after he surrendered himself to the Australian embassy in Thailand.
He flew to Bangkok on December 16, 2010, a, day after two co-accused were arrested near Tamworth.
He has been on bail since returning to Australia.
Freeman is due to be sentenced in the same court on October 27.
