Commentator Brian Taylor and radio station 3AW have parted ways after his five years as the station's chief football caller.
"Brian and I sat down over a month ago and we agreed that BT would focus on his TV career and that 3AW would move forward in 2015 without his involvement. I want to thank Brian for his passion and determination over the past five years, following in the footsteps of other great 3AW callers in Rex Hunt and Harry Beitzel," said Shane Healy, the station's general manager.
"I wish Brian all the best with his TV career and I look forward to announcing 3AW's 2015 line-up in the near future."
Taylor remains the lead caller on Channel Seven's Saturday night football. There is speculation he could return to Triple M next season.
"Next year we'll be doing what 3AW Football has always done best - comprehensive, entertaining and accurate match coverage and analysis," said Healy.
Taylor is the first departure in what is likely to be a major shakeup in the radio network's football department.
It's understood Leigh Matthews and Cameron Ling are also leaving the station, while Matthew Richardson will no longer be heard on a Saturday. Journalist Mike Sheahan, who had already stepped down from his role on Fox Footy's On the Couch, has also left.
Brisbane Lions great Jonathan Brown is understood to be in the running for a special comments role.
3AW and The Age are owned by Fairfax Media.
