THERE is a lot to consider when selling a home, so how to decorate or redecorate can often take a back seat.
Redecorating or redesigning a home for sale has become a popular way for homeowners to get the most out of a sale.
Interior stylist and author Jason Grant (pictured above) has many years of experience in this industry.
When it came to redecorating a house for resale, Mr Grant said it was important to consider what was on display.
"You want to strip it back, but you also want it to feel lived in," he said. "Remove personal things so they aren't distracting.
"Editing, streamlining and decluttering rooms is also very important."
Mr Grant said bright colours were on trend at the moment.
"It looks like lots of bright colour, and pops of colour like pastels are in," he said.
"Along with anything nautical, like stripes, or items with tropical vibes."
The popularity of shows like The Block and interior design magazines are making people more aware of design, Mr Grant said.
"A lot of people are enjoying renovating at the moment."
His latest project is the Build for a Cure home at Glenmore Park.
"I have worked with Freedom Furniture many times, and they have kindly donated furniture to the cause, so I donated some of my time," he said.
"For this house, it was all about creating a relaxed space of your own — a family-friendly space."
The Build for a Cure program aims to help families affected by childhood cancer.
The fully furnished four-bedroom, two-bathroom house in Forestwood Drive, Glenmore Park, will be auctioned on Sunday, October 26. All proceeds from the sale will go to the Children's Cancer Institute.
