THE Fiddler at Rouse Hill is no longer one of NSW's most violent nightspots.
The historic Rouse Hill hotel is set to be removed from the list of the state's most violent venues when updated figures are released in December.
Once ranked NSW's most violent venue, reported assaults have dropped from 73 in 2007-08 to 10 in 2013-14.
Previously called The Mean Fiddler, the "Mean" was taken out to reflect its "softened" image.
"We've owned the hotel for 10 years and have had a lot of patrons in that time," hotel group general manager Brad Jenkins said.
"We looked at the business model and decided what we were doing wasn't sustainable and recognised that we had to change."
The Fiddler underwent a $3 million revamp which included new furniture, a wine lounge, live entertainment spaces and seating for 900 people. The Woolshed was transformed into a sports bar and nightclub style spaces converted into relaxed bars.
New chefs, security and bar staff were hired.
Stage one of renovations will be ready in time for Melbourne Cup Day next Tuesday.
At least 12 upcoming events have been booked.
"Safety was our biggest priority," Mr Jenkins said.
"People used to come here from all over Sydney. Our focus is now getting it right for The Hills. We've shifted the focus away from the traditional late night trading model, which made up 80 per cent of the business, which is now closer to 10 per cent."
Local social and sporting clubs were approached to earn back the community's trust
"We want to to be known as a venue that's friendly for everyone," Mr Jenkins said.
"For us to be not known as a violent venue demonstrates to the community that we've done something it about and not stood by and done nothing. The feedback from our patrons has been very positive."
Mr Jenkins hopes The Fiddler will now be known for its safe and relaxed family environment.
"Come back and give us a go."
