A Palmer United Party candidate is ineligible to run for the state election because he was once convicted of reckless injury.
Jason Kennedy, a former fishing television show host running for the Upper House South-Eastern Metropolitan district, was found guilty of the indictable offence – which carries a maximum penalty of seven years' jail – in 1989.
The conviction was revealed in Supreme Court Justice Bernard Bongiorno's decision not to prevent the Victorian Electoral Commission from distributing the district's ballot papers on Monday.
