The man accused of setting fire to his Rozelle shop to claim insurance money has been charged with extra offences over the explosion, which killed three people.
Adeel Ahmad Khan, 45, already charged with three counts of murder, two of attempted murder, three of manslaughter and 17 charges relating to the damage to property caused by the fire, is now facing four extra charges of reckless damage.
Mr Khan, who was injured in the fire and has been too ill to face court previously, appeared via audio-visual link in Central Local Court on Tuesday to hear the new charges, which relate to the damage of surrounding units and shops.
Wearing prison greens, Mr Khan only spoke to indicate he could hear the proceedings and to say "good morning".
Crown Prosecutor Katharine Jeffreys asked for a six-week adjournment to await post-mortem results, the transcripts of police listening devices, and further forensic testing.
Ms Jeffreys said the brief of evidence was 6000 pages long and included a lot of CCTV footage.
Mr Khan's barrister, Mark Fozzard, said prosecutors were taking too long in providing material that would prove crucial to the case.
But Magistrate Les Mabbutt noted the serious allegations and the complexity of the case, and granted the adjournment.
Bianka O'Brien, 31, her baby son Jude and their neighbour Chris Noble, 27, all died in the fire, which engulfed the Rozelle convenience store and adjoining shops and units on Darling Street on September 4.
Three others were injured, including Mr Khan, who was discovered by fire crews trapped underneath a commercial fridge. He was charged by detectives while being treated for his injuries in Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
One of the original charges against Mr Khan relates to dishonestly damaging the Rozelle convenience store with "a view to making gain for himself", court documents show.
Mr Noble's parents, from the regional town of Canowindra, in the state's central west, were in court for the brief mention on Tuesday.
The matter will return to court on March 27.
