Police are frustrated by the silence of a 26-year-old victim who was dropped off at a western Sydney hospital with a severe gunshot wound last Tuesday night.
Detectives say the victim and a relative were driven to Mount Druitt Hospital by a woman who drove off without giving any information to hospital staff.
The man was taken to another hospital in a serious condition and later underwent surgery.
Police say the man has since been released from hospital but he and his family are refusing to cooperate with detectives.
"The injured man and his family have not provided police with information about the matter," a NSW Police spokesman said.
Despite the wall of silence, police have now released a description of a man they would like to question in relation to the attempted murder.
"The man is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, approximately 30 years of age, 170 to 175cm tall, with a solid build, a beard and short black hair," police said.
Police also taped off a crime scene on George Street, Mount Druitt which was examined by a number of forensic officers.
The car which was used to drive the man to hospital was also found an seized for forensic examination.
