Woolworths is set to be one of the first apps available for Apple Watch when it launches in Australia later this month.
The supermarket giant's "Woolies Shop" Apple Watch app is designed to help customers with their supermarket shopping and provides quick access to information to find the nearest Woolies store and shop quickly and easily.
According to Woolworths, one of the key features of the app is "Glance", which quickly shows users information they care about most.
"Swiping up from the Watch face reveals the Woolies Shop Glance that will show the nearest store including the location, walking and driving distance and opening hours," Woolworths said.
"Shopping lists created in the Woolies Shop app can also be accessed via the Apple Watch app. Lists are sorted by aisle order so customers can navigate the store like a pro and find everything they need quickly and easily. Items can be checked off as soon as they're found so nothing is forgotten."
The Woolies Shop app for the new Apple Watch works in tandem with the iPhone but can also be used by itself on the iPhone. It will be available from 24 April - the day the Apple Watch launches.
"The app has been months in the planning and we've been working with a team of very talented designers and developers from Bilue and Neoteny to create this exciting tool," Woolworths digital marketing manager, Katrina Colpo, said.
The Woolies app joins a number of other apps launching on the Apple Watch including Uber, Facebook Airtasker, Procreate Pocket, eBay, the Guardian, Evernote, Twitter and Shazam.
Fairfax Media, publisher of this article, has also announced that its property arm Domain will be launching an app.
Among other things, the Domain app will allow users to search and view property information and photos with 'one touch' and enable them receive instant notifications about properties that meet their criteria.
It will also let users organise properties as favourites and schedule inspection, and enable users to pick up where they left off with their iPhone to explore properties in more detail.
Rival REA Group has also announced an app which will allow property hunters to be alerted to homes for sale in their area, among other things.
