Youth Week is around the corner and there are plenty of events for western Sydney youngsters to attend.
On nationally from April 10 to 19, the initiative is an opportunity for young people to express their ideas and views; act on issues that affect their lives and enjoy activities and events.

Blacktown
■ April 10 Movies under the stars at Doonside Cottage, $7. BYO rug/blanket. Details: 9626 5312.

Penrith
■ April 9: Live music performed by young people and free barbecue at The Mondo. From 5pm-7pm. Details: Katerina Tahija, 4732 7832.
■ April 10: There will be carnival games, workshops and more at St Clair Skate Park with a free barbecue. From 11am-3pm.
■ April 13: Colour games obstacle course, group competitions, prizes and a free barbecue at Jamison Park from 1pm-3pm.
The Hills
■ April 10: Youth employment seminar at the Vinegar Hill Memorial Library, Rouse Hill, to give young people information about finding jobs identifying career pathways. Details: 9639 7988.
■ April 12: Learn about skate park safety and etiquette, watch demonstrations and take part in competitions at the Balcombe Heights Estate, from 9am. Details: 9843 0237.
Holroyd
■April 17: Loud in the Library event at Merrylands Library with music and competitions from 4pm and a free screening of the movie The Book Thief from 5pm.
Parramatta (all events at Granville Youth and Community Recreation Centre, 9806 5050)
■ April 9: Young people can express their views and opinions in MC Battleground, from 3pm-5pm.
■ April 11: Youth forum to learn about how council and the community can support young people. From 9.30am-3.30pm.
■ April 12: Community festival Roc the Bloc with dancing and songs. From 11am-2pm.
