ABOUT 15 firefighters from three stations in Blacktown saved a Maltese terrier dog when fire destroyed a house in Plumpton this morning.
Units came from Blacktown, Mt Druitt and Huntingwood to attend the fire which started in Willow Grove at about 8.40am.
A spokesman said they took about half an hour to bring the flames under control and prevent it from spreading to nearby houses.
A spokesman said the dog was rescued from one of the back rooms of the house by a Huntingwood officer.
He said the owner was not at home when the fire broke out and that it was reported by a neighbour to Mt Druitt station.
The front portion of the house, including the roof, was destroyed by the fire.
The spokesman said the dog and its owner were reunited and police and fire officers were now investigating the cause of the fire.
