Three men arrested over Prospect armed robbery

Three men will face court today over an armed robbery of a bottle shop at Prospect this week.

About 4.30pm, Monday, August 27, three men entered the bottle shop on Blacktown Road, Prospect.

The trio waited for several customers to leave the store and approaching a 66-year-old male store employee.

It will be alleged he was threatened with a firearm and baton and forced into a back room where he had his hands and feet tied.

Police will further allege cash from the register and several cases of pre-mixed spirits were stolen. They also unsuccessfully attempted to gain access to an ATM before fleeing out the back door.

After investigations by Blacktown detectives three men were arrested yesterday, Wednesday, August 29, by police on patrol in Bruce Street, Blacktown.

The trio were taken to Blacktown police station.

A 35-year-old Toongabbie man and 23-year-old Blacktown man were subsequently charged with robbery whilst armed in relation to the incident on August 27.

A 33-year-old man of no fixed address was subsequently charged with robbery whilst armed.

This charge relates to an alleged armed robbery at a Seven Hills newsagent on August 1.

All were refused bail and will appear before Blacktown Local Court today, Thursday, August 30.

A firearm, police radio, handcuffs and a quantity of prohibited drugs were seized during a subsequent search warrant executed at a house in Blacktown.

Inquiries into the robberies are still continuing.
