The case against a Sydney woman accused of murdering her six-year-old daughter is circumstantial, a judge has been told.
Kristi Anne Abrahams, 29, appeared briefly in the NSW Supreme Court yesterday, where she was not required to enter a plea.
She is charged with murdering Kiesha Weippeart, who was reported missing from her home at Mt Druitt in western Sydney on August 1, 2010.
The charge was laid after human remains were discovered in bushland at Mt Druitt eight months later in April 2011 on what would have been Kiesha's seventh birthday.
Angus Webb, representing Abrahams, said "extensive discussions" needed to take place between the crown and defence before the matter could come to trial.
"It's a circumstantial case," Mr Webb said. "Some areas of the evidence will clearly be challenged."
Acting Justice Graham Barr adjourned the matter for arraignment on November 2.
He ordered Abrahams to stand trial on June 17 next year, with the proceedings expected to last about eight weeks.
