Second-placed team feel like winners

THE girls from Seven Hills have tackled the big time and come within reach of the biggest prize of all.

Not that they're too disappointed; not when they've knocked off the likes of multiple title-winners Bass Hill High on the way to the State NRL Captains Cup final, when representing the Parramatta district.

That semi-final against Bass Hill, representing Canterbury, finished 12-all but Seven Hills High went through to the final under the first try-scorer rule.

They then lost 16-0 to South Strathfield High, representing Balmain.

But it's been a buzz getting there for the 14 year 7 and 8 rugby league recruits.

"It was amazing," Summer Kano said.

Said Aliti Namoce: "We're pumped for next year.

"Thank you to Michael [Bassin] and the Eels S.G. Ball boys for all your help and guidance in the lead-up and on the day."

Emboldened, the girls are already tackling their strategy for the next campaign.

Kano was presented with the best-and-fairest award but dare it be said: rugby league was the real winner.
