Aboriginal community members and artists will meet at the site of the historic Blacktown Native Institution on June 27 for a Corroboree.
This will be the third collaborative event between the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, Blacktown Arts Centre and UrbanGrowth NSW as part of a year-long project.
Corroboree is an Aboriginal word used to describe a dance ceremony or informal gathering.
New temporary public artworks will be unveiled at the event including Darren Bell's photographic portraits of the community projected onto a silo, an installation of suspended paper doll chains by Darug artist Leanne Tobin and woven eel traps made by Kristine Stewart and Steven Russell.
There will also be free activities including storytelling, live music, traditional food, and children's workshops.
Also performances by hip-hop artist Brothablack, Krista Pav, the Mount Druitt Indigenous Choir and Chris Burke & Puppets (Yarramundi Kids).
