Two men charged with dealing a commercial quantity of ecstasy and cocaine worth $190,000 in a Jindabyne car park have had their bail applications adjourned.
Julian Abraham, 25, and Ben Miles, 24, were arrested in at the Bullocks Flat ski-tube carpark on Thursday afternoon allegedly in possession of 680 grams of MDMA, 56 grams of crystal methamphetamine, and 284 grams of cocaine.
The two men appeared in the Queanbeyan Local Court on Friday afternoon where their lawyer, Uelenitoni Tu'ulakitau, successfully adjourned their bail application to September 4.
Both men will remain in custody with Mr Tu'ulakitau telling the court that Miles feared for his safety from men known to him.
A NSW Police tactical operations unit searched two Jindabyne properties shortly after the men were arrested and found further drugs.
A police source said close to 1.4 kilograms of MDMA had been seized in the alpine area since June, worth an estimated 40,000 street deals.
Covert operations in the alpine area have been supported by the State Crime Command and had also led to the arrest of a 40-year-old man for supplying a commercial quantity of MDMA.
Superintendent Rod Smith said the force was proud to have seized "a lot of drugs" and arrested two alleged dealers.
"We have also had success running similar operations in Wagga Wagga and the Shoalhaven areas in recent months with all operations proving very successful," he said.
"This should be a reminder to everyone that this is a combined effort between police and the community. People who see something suspicious, or suspect illegal drug activity may be happening in their area, they should contact their local police."
Superintendent Smith said the presence of police dogs on the slopes had resulted in more than 70 people being detected with drugs in their system.
"We know there are drugs being used in this area and we are taking this very seriously," he said.
