It was group 1 win number 53 for Chris Waller after Press Statement made his own statement after leading all the way from the outside gate to take out the $1 million Caulfield Guineas.
Earlier in his career Waller easily got emotional after his big wins but on Saturday it seemed he was getting used to being on the other end of a microphone after a group 1 victory.
"You're trying to make me cry aren't you?", Waller said when asked to reflect on how the win fitted in his career.
"It's a huge thrill and hasn't sunk in yet."
While many of his group 1 victories have come through his meticulous planning Waller had little room to manoeuvre in even getting Press Statement to the Caulfield Guineas.
Press Statement was never headed in beating Lizard Island ($19) with Ready For Victory ($11) taking the minor placing.
