As three firefighters pried the bonnet off a ruined Holden with a crowbar this afternoon, a tongue of flame burst from the wreckage.
A group of men were driving home from work down Sunnyholt Road when they heard a “little crack” in the engine.
“A lady pulled up and said ‘the bottom of that’s on fire, mate,’” said passenger Adam Dalzell.
The men got out of the car and were safely standing on the side of the road when the flames erupted.
