Online reunion a chance to re-live 'magical place'

FANS of Australia's Wonderland Sydney Park in Eastern Creek, which closed eight years ago, can re-live their experiences in an online reunion on October 10.

It was organised in response to the recent news that works have started on the proposed $115 million Wet 'n' Wild Sydney Park at Prospect set to open by next summer.

Founder of wonderlandhistory.net, Chris Watts, is hosting the online event from 8pm to bring people who loved the park together to share their stories of the "magical place".

He said the online event would allow them to re-live their childhood memories at Wonderland including taking rides on the Bush Beast, Snowy River Rampage or The Space Probe online.

"I grew up five minutes from Wonderland and still have not ventured too far away," he said.

"I went all the time as a child and have many special memories of the place.

"To re-create this, I will be broadcasting some special footage of Wonderland taken from home movies showing the lifespan of Wonderland.

"We will start after the park first opened, with footage from 1986, then push forward 10 years to 1996 to see how the park had changed.

"It will end in the final weekend of operation of Wonderland in April 2004, including my favourite walk around the entire park."
