Fantastic Furniture has been forced to recall a popular dining chair that is believed to have severed parts of people's toes twice in a year.
The furniture retailer has announced a recall of the 'Australia Worx' chair, sold nationally between August 2014 and last November, after the latest injury.
An 11-year-old Gold Coast boy lost part of his toe three months ago after stubbing his foot on a Worx chair.
And a Sydney man suffered similar injuries in April when he tripped over one of the chairs and, as he fell, the sharp metal edge reportedly sliced off his middle toe.
"I'm still not used to having no toe," Mr Bulman told News Limited.
"You expect to feel something and you can't; but there's a phantom feeling."
This week, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission listed the Worx chair's defects in a recall notice, warning that the "tapering on the inside bottom of the chair legs may lead to an entrapment or laceration hazard".
The Australian Furniture Association said other retailers were selling "almost identical" products, which were reproductions of a 1934 designer cafe chair.
AFA chief executive Patrizia Torelli said there could be "several hundred thousand" of the potentially dangerous chairs in homes and cafes nationwide.
"The chairs in this case are replicas, and sadly a replica is designed to create a likeness not a product manufactured under licence, which can sometimes be at the expense of craftsmanship and attention to detail," she said.
"More importantly these products often do not meet Australian standards placing consumers at risk ... the endearing qualities that make an original design great and safe are compromised."
Fantastic Holdings Limited operates more than 130 stores across four furniture retail chains, including Fantastic Furniture, according to the AFA.
There are 32 Fantastic Furniture stores in NSW, 18 in Victoria, 12 in Queensland, six in Western Australia, four in South Australia, two in Tasmania, and one in the ACT.
