A five-year-old girl has been rushed to hospital after being bitten by a dog in Sydney's west on Thursday night.
Emergency services were called to a home on Bombala Street in Pendle Hill at about 7.30pm, where they found the girl with facial injuries, including a significant injury to her nose.
She was taken by ambulance to The Children's Hospital at Westmead for treatment of her injuries, which are non-life threatening, NSW Police said.
Officers from Holroyd Local Area Command attended the scene and were told the girl was bitten in a front yard by a dog that was visiting the home.
The dog has been secured and an investigation into the incident is now underway.
Police are liaising with Holroyd Council regarding what to do with the dog.
