A 23-year-old man has plunged to his death off a waterfall on the Central Coast on Sunday.
The man fell roughly 10 metres from Somersby Falls in Brisbane Water National Park, about 75 kilometres north of Sydney and 10 kilometres from Gosford, just before 5pm.
He landed on the rocks below the falls, sustaining severe injuries in what police believe was a tragic accident.
"Upon arriving at the scene, police and ambulance paramedics attended to the man, however he was pronounced dead at the scene," police said.
Fire and Rescue and a Westpac Rescue Helicopter were also called but were unable to save the man.
Distraught family members comforted each other in a nearby car park and assisted the police with their inquiries.
The incident is not considered to be suspicious.
A report is being prepared for the coroner, police said.
Somersby Falls is a popular picnic spot, surrounded by thick rainforest. A 500-metre return walking track from the picnic area winds around the top and bottom waterfalls.
"The walk is steep and slippery in places, so keep an eye on the kids as they walk along the track," National Parks NSW website said.
