Boy, 4, hit by car in Blacktown

A four-year-old boy suffered multiple fractures when struck by a car near his home in Blacktown late yesterday, emergency services said.

The CareFlight helicopter was called to the accident at Allawah Street about 5pm, so its emergency trauma doctor could treat the boy with paramedics.

The CareFlight doctor said the boy suffered multiple leg fractures and facial cuts but remained conscious.

The boy was stabilised, doctors said, and was taken in a road ambulance under continuing treatment by the CareFlight doctor to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

He underwent emergency orthopaedic surgery at the hospital, doctors said.

The boy remained in a serious but stable condition on arrival.
