A man has died in hospital after he was allegedly stopped by staff while shoplifting on the NSW Central Coast.
The 47-year-old was found unconscious at BJ Howes Metaland in Lisarow, near Gosford, at 12.10pm on Saturday, after an alleged altercation with people who worked at the business.
Police were told the man had been "detained" and collapsed at the store, which sells industrial equipment, including high-end tools.
Officers performed CPR until paramedics arrived and took the man to hospital in a critical condition.
He did not regain consciousness and died in Gosford Hospital on Tuesday afternoon.
Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
