Six men have been charged with murdering a 35-year-old man who was stabbed to death in a "vicious" street attack in Sydney's south-west last year.
Tu Luong, of Cabramatta, was found fading in and out of consciousness on Belmore Street in Fairfield East on Sunday afternoon, December 6.
He tried to speak as he lay bleeding, one witness said, but died of his injuries in Liverpool Hospital about two hours after he was found.
At the time, Superintendent Peter Lennon from Fairfield Local Area Command said Mr Luong was known to police but the motive behind the assault was not clear.
"It was a vicious attack," he said. "He was left basically dying on the footpath."
Mr Luong had been under house arrest, forbidden from seeing anyone but his mother, as part of bail conditions as he faced a string of drug charges. He had been due to face Liverpool Local Court two days after he was killed.
The Homicide Squad established Strike Force Guntawong to investigate Mr Luong's death.
On Wednesday, homicide detectives executed search warrants at Casula, Smithfield, Fairfield East and Liverpool in Sydney's south-west.
Police arrested five men, aged between 32 and 38, in NSW and a sixth man in the ACT. They have all been charged with murder.
Police said a .22 bolt-action rifle was seized at the Liverpool home, and an air rifle and drugs suspected of being heroin were seized from the Fairfield East home.
All of the men have been remanded, to appear in court later this year.
