"This is first job I've had more positive feedback than complaints," Blacktown Mount Druitt Hospital general manager, Andrew Newton, after reading out a letter from a Mount Druitt Hospital patient thanking the staff for the care they received last month.
Blacktown Mount Druitt Cardiac Support Group president Barry Robson: "I wouldn't be alive today if it wasn't for Mount Druitt Hospital.
"I wouldn't have made it to Blacktown or Nepean when I had a major heart attack. It's added at least another 11 years to my life and I'm here to see my first great-grandchild."
Western Sydney Local Health District chief executive Danny O'Connor: "It's a special day that represents the relevance and staying power this hospital has to the community.
"It's not just one single community that's served by the hospital, there are other areas related to [the] role of the hospital."
Blacktown Mount Druitt Hospital operating nurse manager Julie Yorke: "When you don't have a community or volunteers, it's hard to survive. Mount Druitt Hospital is very different compared to others.
"Everyone feels at ease and everyone smiles and says hello."
