As a Sydney teenager was bleeding to death in the passenger seat of a car his brother repeatedly told him "You're gonna be alright".
Adam Abu-Mahmoud had just been repeatedly stabbed and a knife was still lodged in his back.
As the car drove on he said "I can't breathe".
His brother Abdul stopped the car near the intersection of Carson and Marco Street, Panania and called triple zero.
While they waited for an ambulance, father Mohamed Abu-Mahmoud arrived at the scene and tried to comfort his dying son.
Paramedics did what they could but the 18-year-old St George TAFE student was pronounced dead at Liverpool Hospital at 7pm on Monday.
Three days later, Mr Abu-Mahmoud's family and friends attended Bankstown Local Court to see one of the men who have been charged with his murder.
Joshua Dillon, 18, James Rivera and a 17-year-old were arrested about half an hour after the bloody, fatal street fight in a suburban street.
On Thursday Mr Dillon applied for bail but it was refused by Magistrate Elaine Truscott.
Court documents reveal that the three accused murderers were driving home from the gym in a white Toyota Hilux ute when they passed a corner store in Panania.
The facts state that the deceased and two other people began to yell abuse and threaten Mr Dillon, Mr Rivera and the 17-year-old as they drove past them on the street.
The car stops and a fight begins, punches were thrown in all directions.
Later, the police facts state that Mr Abu-Mahmoud and the group he was with yelled out "we are firearms, we will shoot you".
All the men leave the scene but Mr Abu-Mahmoud called his brother Abdul and says "I got jumped".
When the pair later sight the white ute driving down a street nearby, they follow it in their car to Anderson Avenue.
It is here Abdul Abu-Mahmoud allegedly wraps a white jumper around his fist and smashes the driver's side window of the ute.
The driver, Mr Rivera, allegedly gets out holding a 10-centimetre knife with a serrated edge and Mr Abu-Mahmoud yells "He has a knife, he has a knife".
His passenger, the 17-year-old gets out of the passenger door and Mr Dillon runs out of his house and straight to where the ute is passed.
During a scuffle, Mr Abu-Mahmoud is stabbed several times in the back.
Mr Dillon's lawyer Michael Ainsworth argued his client was not involved at all in the stabbing on Thursday.
"There is no witnesses and no evidence that he is armed with anything at any time," he said.
He further argued the prosecution's case that his client was part of a joint criminal enterprise was "weak".
Outside of court, Mr Abu-Mahmoud's family paid tribute to him on social media.
Omar Abu-Mahmoud said his heart was "bleeding" after the death of his brother.
My beautiful brother had a heart of gold wallahi, he loved to make other people happy," he posted.
His uncle Abdul said the loss was hard to describe.
"My beautiful nephew Adam Abu-Mahmoud returned to his Creator. Adam was dear, close to my heart. His loss is great, greater than i can describe," he wrote.
