‘ Wet ‘n’ Wild on track

ABOUT 50,000 people have registered to buy tickets to the Wet ‘n’ Wild Sydney Park at Prospect one year before its scheduled opening.

Park general manager Chris Warhurst said the number excluded about 1000 who applied for jobs and about 20,000 ‘hits’ on its website wetnwildsydney.com.au.

He said the $115 million park being built by Village Roadshow would start recruiting 300 full and part- time park workers in April next year. Mr Warhurst told the Sun this at the 27-hectare worksite at Reservoir Road, where about 40 men and bulldozers are clearing the land for construction of pools, rivers and the erection of 42 waterslides, including one that is 10 metres higher than Sydney Opera House.

He said a signboard identifying the project would be erected next week.

‘‘Everything is going according to schedule. We have already ordered two top waterslides from its manufacturer in Canada,’’ he said.

‘‘We expect them to come to Sydney in 250 containers for assembly from December to February next year.’’

Mr Warhurst was pleased about 70 per cent of the people who applied for the jobs were local residents.

The attractions at Wet’n’Wild Sydney also include the world’s first combination of a 4-loop and 8-lane racer and the world’s tallest Double SkyCoaster.

The park will use rainwater and recycled storm-water.
