New hospital courtyard a place of peace

The newly refurbished courtyard of Blacktown Hospital’s birthing unit was unveiled today.

Hospital staff planted shrubs, ferns and bulbs with the assistance of Bunnings.

A water feature was also installed to add to the tranquillity of the garden area.

Hospital general manager Andrew Newton said the updated courtyard would be a place for reflection and serenity, enjoyed by staff, patients and their families.

“I am delighted at the generosity of our local business and team members for creating this piece of paradise,’’ he said.

‘‘With the cascading flow of water ... people can sit and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and surroundings.”

Mr Newton said staff maintained the grounds to a high standard.

Bunnings Seven Hills manager Brett Taylor said staff were glad to lend a hand.

‘‘We hope that the courtyard makeover will be enjoyed by patients, families and staff for years to come,’’ he said.
