Radio plays will take Katoomba to the world

RADIO play enthusiasts around the world can listen to two performances by Blue Mountains Radio Players in Katoomba on Sunday October 28. 

Their live performance at the Mountain Heritage Hotel will be streamed worldwide on the internet for the first time through Radio Blue Mountains via http://www.rbm.org.au/ at 2.30pm.  

They will perform in the Ballroom of the Mountain Heritage Hotel and Spa at the corner of Apex and Lovel streets. 

Juliette Palmer-Frederick,director, Blue Mountains Radio Players said this would be the first time they perform live to air via Blue Mountains Community Radio Station.

She invited listeners to send their responses to her at historyhwy@yahoo.com.

‘‘If you enjoy this broadcast we could probably do it more often, so do let us know,’’ she said. 

They are doing ‘Pleasure Before Business’ from the Third Man series (1952) and The Haunted House from the Ozzie and Harriet series (1948) just in time for Halloween.

Cast members for ‘Pleasure Before Business’ are: Announcer, Jan Vaughan; Harry Lime, Philip Hammon; Joan Willoughby, Amanda Russell; Count de la Robia, Colin Semmler and Rico, Rob Ricketson. 

Haunted House cast members are: Ozzie, David Cox; Harriet, Amanda Russell; (their sons) David, Xavier Walker and Ricky, Arabella Walker; Man, Rob Ricketson; Neighbour Thornhill, Philip Hammon; and Emmy-Lou (little girl in neighbourhood), Deirdre Lassau.
