A Halloween-themed children's drawing competition for The Sun-Herald has received more than 300 entries.
Claudia Rowe, 5, from Haberfield was adjudged the best in her age category by Fairfax Media Walkley-award winning cartoonist and illustrator John Shakespeare.
Entrants aged from one to 15 submitted black and white drawings, with the winners getting their artwork coloured in by Shakespeare and featured in The Sun-Herald.
After being presented with her prize on Friday, Claudia proudly proclaimed this was her best piece yet. She said she was excited because "I haven't been in the newspaper before".
"I like drawing because it's my favourite thing. It makes me feel good because I like doing it."
What does she want to be when she grows up?
"An artist," she pauses. "And a rock star. I want to be both jobs."
Claudia's mother, Jen Rowe, said her daughter was so keen to draw that she could never find any blank paper in the house.
"We have to force her to stop, seriously. All the paper is always gone!
"She's probably been drawing since she was about three, but she's really developed an interest in the last year. She says she wants to be an artist when she grows up."
As it turns out, artistic ability runs in the family. Jen said she won a Sun-Herald competition herself in the late-1970s.
"I remember getting the cash prize - it was $4 or something!" she said.
With more than 300 individual entries, Shakespeare said it was tough to choose a winner, but Claudia's stood out because of the "comic touch".
"I just loved the expression on the little character's face - it had a lot of life to it. I thought, 'This one's a natural cartoonist.'"
"It's just great seeing all the kids getting involved," Shakespeare said.
