The mother of a baby who was allegedly bashed to death in a granny flat has been charged with murder following a seven-week investigation.
The two-year-old girl was allegedly bashed in a Guildford granny flat shared by the mother and 22-year-old Mohammed Khazma.
Mr Khazma, who met the baby's mother on Facebook just six weeks prior, was charged with murder on December 19.
On Friday, the baby's mother, who cannot be identified, was also charged.
Police will allege the pair took part in the physical assault of the baby on December 19.
At some point in the afternoon, Mr Khazma left the granny flat and the mother drove to Mr Khazma's family home in McCredie Road, Guildford West, with her baby.
She drove into the Khazma family's front yard and screamed "Mohammed has killed my baby!" according to Mr Khazma's father, Joude, who was home at the time.
The baby was found dead on the back seat of the mother's car.
It's understood child welfare services had previously been involved with the child.
Mr Khazma's parents told Fairfax Media last month that they had noticed bite marks and bruising on the girl in months prior to her death.
They said the girl accidentally smashed a glass table at their home three weeks before her death and cut her leg badly but the mother refused to take her to hospital.
The mother was refused bail by Bankstown police on Friday afternoon will appear in Parramatta Local Court in Sunday.
