Nine NSW softballers get call up for Australia

Australia’s best junior softballers will head to Queensland in July to play in the International Friendship series. 

The 2017 Australian-under-17 softball squad was selected on Wednesday, March 15 and features nine NSW players in the 32 women squad. 

The group are invited to attend a three day development training camp which serves as an introduction and first step into the Softball Australia High Performance pathway.

Following the camp the squad will play in the 2017 International Friendship Series - a five day tournament which invites international, state, academy and regional teams to participate in a round robin style format.

The squad are ultimately working towards the 2019 Junior World Championships.

The selected players from NSW include Jorja Barrett, Breanna Evans, Layhnee Kearnes, Ellie Marks, Emily Peters, Anisha Sawald, Jenna Trim, Shaylan Whatman and Jess Woolbank. 

The International Friendship series will be held from July 3-7 at Redlands Softball Association, Queensland. 

The girls will train at Blacktown International Sportspark, the home of Softball NSW up until the tournament.
