Hundreds of property owners who signed up with failed construction company Watersun Homes remain without a builder to complete their homes.
More than 400 homes were left unfinished when the Victorian arm of Watersun Homes, WSH Group, went into administration in February
On Monday, administrators Rodgers Reidy announced it had found builders about half of the properties, with Mega Homes, VM Builders and Ric Jelfs Custom Homes to be brought in to finish the jobs.
"These owners have been advised of the sale by our office and the builders will now contact the owners to agree terms for the completion of their homes," said Rodgers Reidy director Mathew Gollant.
But another 200 homeowners remain in the lurch - having either terminated their contract or because the administrator was unable to find a company to finish their homes.
Mr Gollant said they would have to find their own builders.
Cafe owner Satwant Singh is one of the unlucky buyers who have been left with an unfinished home - and no one yet willing to take it on.
Mr Singh signed a contract for works with Watersun Homes in June 2015, more than a year before his first child was born.
But to date, the family's almost $295,000 two-storey house remains in disarray and there is no end in sight.
Mr Singh, his wife and one-year-old daughter have been forced to live in a small rental property in Ballarat.
He estimates he has lost more than $20,000 in rental payments.
"We think about this day and night, it's been a never-ending nightmare for us," he said.
"The structure itself needs to be completely painted and tiled. It's basically just a shell inside."
Independent builders who have inspected the house have raised concerns about shoddy workmanship.
The roof cladding is incomplete and water leaks through into the top storey when it rains.
"The builders we got to look inside said the entire structure of the house is faulty," he said.
Mr Singh said independent builders have estimated it could another $90,000 to fix the damage and complete the house.
