The sun was shining on Stonecutters Ridge as a full field of golfers took to the course for a worthy cause.
The 10th annual Blacktown Relay for Life golf day raised an impressive $14,000 for Cancer Council NSW, although organiser Col Morris was disappointed by one aspect.
“We came within on metre of giving away a $55,000 car,” Mr Morris said.
Audi Centre Parramatta had pledged to give away a new car to anyone who scored a hole-in-one on the 16th hole.
All 138 golfers tried the 161-metre par four, but the prize went unclaimed this year.
Still, no-one was left disappointed by the day out on the greens.
“The weather was great, the course was in great condition, everyone had a great day,” Mr Morris said.
The fundraising team will be back in action at the Medieval Fayre in Doonside this weekend, where organisers expect an incredible crowd of 40,000 over the two days of the festival.
Mr Morris thanked Blacktown Council for their ongoing support of the fundraiser.
The committee's major event will celebrate its 15th year at Blacktown International Sportspark on October 28-29. They are aiming to raising $120,000 for cancer research and support services.
