Medical scans will be faster and more comfortable in Blacktown thanks to a multi-million dollar technological investment.

Western Imaging Group last week unveiled its latest acquisition, a Magnetom Skyra 3T MRI scanner from Siemens Healthineers.

Senior radiologist Matthew Lee said the multi-million dollar machine will bring quicker, quieter imaging for patients.

“This is a win for healthcare within the local community and we’d like to thank [Blacktown MP John] Roberston for his support in making the acquisition possible,” Dr Lee said.

“A growing region like Blacktown requires dynamic advancements in human health.

“Ultimately by doing so, we aim to improve early detection, reduce the need for re-scans and improve imaging experiences for all our patients.”

Dr Lee said Western Imaging group was the only practice in Australia to have both an open, upright multi-positional MRI machine and the latest scanning technology.

Bulk billing is available for all examinations at the centre.

The new scanner provides high quality imaging for all organs and parts of the body, including joints, brain, spine, prostate and abdomen.
