Talking to someone with experience makes a big difference when you need advice on how to ensure your garden looks its best.

And few would be able rival Edroy’s 55 years in the business of mowers and chainsaws.

The business was started in 1963 by Edward and Roy (hence the name) and was then owned by Blacktown local Mr Bowes from the early 70s to the mid 80s when Noel Kerrigan bought it.

“When I started it was more of a country dealership – we were on the fringe of Sydney and people had broad acre lots. Now we are much more of a city-style dealership and our range of products suit the postage-stamp size blocks these days,” Mr Kerrigan said.

“For example a trend that has emerged in the last couple of years has been battery-powered machinery, which are quieter and strong enough to manage jobs around the house, and you don’t have to store fuel.”

Mr Kerrigan said another growth market has been in cleaning products – both air and water cleaners which are in demand now that properties tend to include more concrete than garden.

Knowing your products and their application is paramount to Mr Kerrigan’s success in business. He said, for example, that knowing that Victa mowers are built in Australia and are therefore designed to cut our grasses, which differ from those overseas, means that his team will ensure you get the right product for your job.

“My team is well trained. I personally insist on training so they can give the right advice,” he said.
