Man charged for trying to smuggle liquor down his pants from Blacktown bottle shop

Staff at a bottle shop on Blacktown Road weren’t fooled by a man who made a novel attempt to smuggle liquor out of the shop.

The man, 32, was caught trying to leave the shop with a bottle of spirits stuffed down his pants about 7.50pm on Friday night.

He returned the bottle and walked to a nearby premises, where security were told of the incident.

Police were already at the hotel for an unrelated matter and spoke to the man, who allegedly refused their directions and pushed one officer.

The man was taken to Blacktown police station, where he allegedly urinated in the dock. 

He was charged with stealing, resisting arrest and damaging property. He is due to appear a Blacktown Local Court on August 25.
