Eastern Sydney’s proposed indoor motocross park is one step closer after the developer lodged its application with Blacktown Council.

The multi-million dollar Sydney Indoor MotorX Park would be an Australian-first project, giving dirt bike riders the chance to ride rail, hail or shine seven days a week.

The park would tie in with the existing International Karting Raceway precinct, further cementing the site’s reputation as a haven for motor sports.

Developer Mattew Bartolo said the team had to adjust some of their original plans to meet Australia’s stringent design standards.

“Our engineers in the dome construction are the best at what they do, so they have been patient and diligent in assisting us to get the information we need,” he said.

“We have left no stone unturned in the lead-up to submitting the plans.”

Blacktown mayor Stephen Bali was supportive of the revolutionary idea when the original plans were unveiled in May.

“It will be a safe, world class and most importantly, legal facility for recreational dirt motorcyclists to enjoy their sport and compete year-round,” he said.

Mr Bartolo thanked the council for its early backing of the project.

“From mayor Stephen Bali down through his planners and staff, they have been fantastic support,” he said.

“We’re now in the council’s hands as to the processing of the development application. We’re hoping it will be a quick process so we can get it underway. Our constructors in the States are ready to go as soon as we get the tick of approval.

“Once the dome material has landed in Sydney, it is a very short time to actually construct the dome and then we can be in operation.”
