Blacktown through the ages: a dive in the newspaper archives

After 35 years serving the community, it’s the end of an era for Fairfax Media in Blacktown.

The paper – originally known as the Blacktown City Star – launched its first edition in August 1982.

The publication went through a few name changes over the years: in March 1995 it became the Fairfax Sun, and then in November 1998 the Blacktown City Sun.

The shortened and final version, simply the Blacktown Sun, has stuck since November 2006.
