AMY Cure has won a bronze medal in the 3000-metre individual pursuit event at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Cure beat Scottish rider Katie Archibald in the race for the bronze, having qualified third fastest overall earlier in the day in a field of 20 riders.
The cyclist from West Pine, near Penguin, clocked a time of 3:35:384 in the bronze medal ride, more than a second and a half ahead of Archibald.
"I gave it everything I could tonight and I'm really happy with my ride," Cure said minutes after the race.
"It was really tough out there, but I went in with a plan and really wanted to bring home the bronze," Amy said.
"This is right up there for me, the Commonwealth Games are second only to the Olympics so it's amazing to come home with a bronze medal."
Australian Annette Edmondson claimed the silver medal in the event, with English rider and world champion Joanna Rowsell earning the top spot on the podium.
Amy's dad, Graeme Cure, was there watching her and said the medal added to a week of celebrations in the Cure household.
"It's really good having Dad here, it would be lovely to have more of my family but my sister (Rebecca) gave birth to a little baby boy three days ago so Mum stayed back to support her,'' Amy said.
