She has been an umpire for almost 20 years and this month's Australian Open will be her 11th. But for Eva Asderaki-Moore, the first woman chair umpire at a US Open men's final, this year's stint at Melbourne Park will be unlike any other. It will be her first one at home.
"I get to sleep in my own bed which is nice," Greek-born Mrs Asderaki-Moore said.
She moved to Melbourne with her husband Paul Moore in July after more than a decade living in England.
Players are all too aware of the 33-year-old's tendency to overrule calls. It was her stellar performance at the 2015 US Open, where she made history as the tournament's first female chair umpire in a men's final, that cemented that reputation.
Eight times she overruled calls during the four-set final between Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer – nailing it on each occasion.
Not known as a fan of chair umpires during his playing days, even former number one John McEnroe was singing her praises while commentating the match.
"She's on fire," the renowned ratbag said during his work with sports broadcaster ESPN. "She doing a strong job. Some nice over-rules."
Despite the presence of the world number one and two on court, social media users quickly dubbed her the most valuable player.
Mrs Asderaki-Moore said the flood of attention and interest was overwhelming initially – but the experience satisfying it had long been a professional goal.
"I was very proud and very happy," she said. "To be assigned any grand slam final is an honour because it's the biggest match of the tournament and there are just four a year."
Having reached the national junior levels in Greece, Mrs Asderaki-Moore became a line umpire in 1997. She has been chair umpire in the 2011 US Open women's final, the 2013 Wimbledon women's final and at the Athens Olympics.
It's not always smooth sailing however. Sometimes when players are under pressure things get personal.
At the 2011 US Open women's final between Serena Williams and Sam Stosur, Williams told Asderaki-Moore she was "ugly on the inside".
"Don't even look my way," the rattled American said in frustration during the match, which Stosur went on to claim as her first Grand Slam singles title.
A top tier, gold badge umpire with the International Tennis Federation, Mrs Asderaki-Moore said umpires had to keep their cool regardless of whether the players lost theirs.
"We can't reply. We have to keep it professional even if they don't," she said.
There are more than 100 line and chair umpires working during the Australian Open, which gets underway on January 18.
In the early stages of the tournament they can cover two matches a day across the singles, doubles and mixed doubles draws. But as players are knocked out, umpiring duties drop back to one match a day.
Umpires, who have to have annual eye checks each November, are not allowed to drink alcohol in the 12 hours before duty and are required to keep relationships with players strictly professional to avoid any perceived conflict of interest.
"We see them week in, week out but we are not really allowed to socialise with them," she said. "We can say 'hi' or 'Happy New Year' when we see them but we can't sit down and have a coffee with them."
